This video tells a story about Liss LaFleur, a new media artist hoping to digitize reels inherited from her radio host grandfather. She worked with PBS to digitize and animate three reels for the “Blank on Blank” series and she independently raised the money necessary to digitize the remaining 297 reels.
With so many layers to Liss’s story, I approached the video as more of a human interest piece and filmed in a mini documentary style. Above all, I emphasized her relationship with her grandfather and the parallels between the two of them. Asking the right questions and having Liss interact with evidence of her memories helped achieve that.
I filmed with a DSLR camera and edited the video in Adobe Premiere Pro. I also wrote accompanying articles for web and print.
